Ed Haynes (born March 16, 1964, Springfield, Virginia) is an American singer and songwriter.
After relocating from the suburban Washington, DC area, to San Francisco, California, Ed began playing to night clubs of the Bay Area while attending San Francisco State University. He recorded his first album, Ed Haynes Sings Ed Haynes in 1989 on Apache records. It was produced by Beserkley Records founder Matthew King Kaufman, a local musical entrepeneur noted for discovering Greg Kihn. It featured the college radio and brief MTV staple I Wanna Kill Everybody. People Magazine reviewed this album in its May 1, 1989 issue, noted his "vague sense of social conciousness" and declared Ed "extremely interesting", a comment that Ed described as "somewhat interesting" (according to his press release). This album is long out of print, and dvd copies have been auctioned for around $200 on Ebay. Ed recorded a special version of his song Rude for the 1990 album Acoustic Music Project, a benefit for Project Angel Food, which provides meals for AIDS patients and other people with life-threatening illness.
In 1998, Ed rushed to follow up his success with this release of his sophomore effort, Poolside Phone. After relocating to Portland, Oregon with his wife Victoria, he released his third album, Snacking With A Vengeance in 2004.
