Plot Summary

Fourteen-year-old Katelin dreams of being an Olympic Figure Skating champion. As her dream evolves, she eventually is discovered by Russian renowed skating coach, Natasha Gobermann. While Katelin wishes to be trained by her, she is unfortunately short on money. She has the opportunity to gain a scholarship; in order to get it, she must attend Buckston Academy and join its girls' hockey team. Katelin is resentful at first, but she reluctantly agrees to travel to the school. Once she begins training with the hockey team, Katelin instanly feels out of place amidst the other girls and the aggressive nature of the sport. Throughout the movie, Katelin builds a bond the team while improving her hockey playing skills. However, Katelin learns towards the end of the movie that the hockey championship and ice skating tournament are on the same day! Katelin must choose whether she will abandon her new found friends and teammates to follow her dream of becoming an Olympic Figure Skating champion, or whether she'll stay loyal to her team and stick with her new hobby. She choose to stick with her girls and play the championship game. They win and it turns out her brother has stalled the Figure Skating competition with his robot and she gets to skate too!

Trivia

• One of the stunt skaters, Stephanie Rosenthal, actually went to Nationals. She placed 8th overall, and is the national collegiate champion.
• Disney planned for Go Figure to be hugely successful and released a soundtrack and was planning to release a DVD. However, Go Figure did not live upto its expectations.
• As stated on the original script, the working title of this movie was Stick It, which went on to be another Touchstone picture, that was released into theaters.

Errors

• The minimum age to appear in the World Championships is 16. At 14 Kaitlin would be ineligible.
• The U.S. Nationals does not use theatrical lighting for any of the programs, except the exhibiton.
• The short program and free skate are held on different days. A winner could not be declared after a single skate.
• Music for the short program and long program must be instrumental, and must not have people singing.
• Shelby is said to have been in three world championships. Shelby is seventeen, and the minimum age is 16, so it is only possible for her to have been in two.
• When Katelin puts on her hockey skates, her leggings are not on. When Ronnie returns the skate it is white. Her skates suddenly appear as neutral and her leggings suddenly appear.
